Life at GBDS
Jewish identities are formed at Academies at GBDS every day. Our diverse community is brought together by the Jewish values and traditions, and we are deeply committed to an integrated, rigorous and engaging education for our children.
Our students experience a sense of belonging stemming from integrated learning, school-wide celebrations, and an emphasis on appreciating each other’s talents and differences.
Academies at GBDS is known as a small school with a big heart. The moment you walk in through our doors, you immediately feel the inviting and warm atmosphere. Our very active Parent Teacher Organization works hand in hand with our Executive Director, Lina Shuster, and our Academic Principals, Sheila Barbach and Sarit Ginzburg to ensure that we stay an empathetic and engaged community. In school celebrations, workshops on children’s learning and development, and opportunities for Jewish learning alternate in the PTO calendar with fundraisers and community building events. Parents are invited to partake or to host Shabbat Across GBDS, in their homes. A new parent buddy system is in place to welcome all new families and to assist in their integration into Academies at GBDS community.
Our community is diverse and includes families from various levels of observance, towns in Bergen, Passaic, and Morris Counties of NJ, as well as Rockland County in NY, different countries, racial backgrounds, family structures, and income levels. Students and parents alike build lifelong relationships with one another.
